First, the Bible says very clearly, "God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life" (1 John 5:11,12, NIV). You have God's promise that your eternal life began the very instant you received His free gift by placing your faith and trust in Jesus. Turn to this promise often for assurance.

Second, Jesus also promised his followers abundant life here and now. Once again, you get that kind of life by application. The difference between a "so-so" existence and the abundant life Jesus promised is found in building your relationship with God through the study of His Word, the Bible.

"And now just as you trusted Christ to save you, trust Him, too, for each day's problems... See that you go on growing in the Lord, and becoming strong and vigorous in the truth you were taught" (Colossians 2:6,7, TLB).
