Greetings from Riga, Latvia where I am having a presentation every day, and all of them – through a translator. Having had some translator’s experience myself I feel so much for them. Last night, I finished the FaithSearch Discovery Part II at Matthew’s Baptist Church at around 10pm. However, I could not say I was tired after I saw how really tired my interpreter was, after helping me to keep the audience completely captivated by the presentation for almost three hours! God bless her heart! Please pray for Ilga [eel-ga] as she is going to bear with me at least two more times in the next four days.
My laptop is still not showing anything on its screen even after a few techs looked at it. I borrowed one for yesterday and was working off the big screen all day today. This is not too bad but at times gets a bit awkward to stand with your back to the audience while reading a long quotation. I should have already memorized them by now anyway!
All these new dynamics (translation, no laptop monitor) are definitely adding fun to what is already SO exciting – training almost 300 hundred Public School Teachers from all over Latvia at their annual Conference! I am looking forward to meeting with them again tomorrow and see again their eyes sparkling and their faces shining when they are presented with the truth of God! One of them shared with me during the coffee break this afternoon: “I come to these Conferences every year since 1996 and some of them, of course, were better than others. This time will be remembered very well by being one of the most practical and substantive. Actually, the most practical and substantive! Thank you for making your material available for us in our own language – not many Russians will do that for Latvia in our days.”
