January-February 2012 Trip to Russia. MSP-AMS-SVO

January 31, 2012 By Dr. Oleg Voskresensky, Teacher

February 2012 itineraryNo border crossings! No “foreign” languages! My current ministry trip will all be in Mother-Russia this time!

I am leaving comfortable Minnesota (+39F) in about an hour and will land in snowy and blistery cold Moscow (-6F) in just a few hours. Will you believe me if I say I am looking forward to it? You have to–because it is true. It is not only because I expect a very warm welcome at my mother-in-law’s apartment (which is also very true); it is not only because I dressed plenty warm and actually have missed a little bite of frost this unusually mild winter (which is only partially true).

What really excites me and what makes me want go back to Russia as many times as I can is what many of us take for granted–the opportunity to speak openly about the most important thing in my life, to share my faith in God, to open my heart to the people of my homeland. I cannot wait to meet with my first group of school teachers on the day-after-tomorrow! [Read more…]

November-December 2011 Trip. Back in Minnesota

December 22, 2011 By Dr. Oleg Voskresensky, Teacher

City of KashiraThank you for all your prayers! I am back home–safe and sound!–and in time for Christmas.

My last presentation in Kashira, near Moscow, for twenty-some teachers started an hour later due to a power blackout. None of those teachers however left the room before we completed the training, and all their questions were asked and discussed. One last comment still makes me smile when I remember it:

What a wonderful Christmas gift you have just given to all of us! I will be celebrating these holidays with a meaning that is completely different than ever before–not just a nice folklore story or a beautiful custom but as a real historical event! I cannot wait to share it with my guests around the table and to see their faces when I tell them the Good News–that the Nativity story actually happened! Was it fun for you to see my face today when I heard it for the first time in my life? I will have that same fun too!

Have a blessed and fun time around Christmas and New Year!

Almost homePray for my quick recovery from jet lag, especially as I am jumping right into preparations for my next trip in the end of January!

November-December 2011 Trip. Moscow

December 20, 2011 By Dr. Oleg Voskresensky, Teacher

Kiev railway stationI am writing this note on an early morning commuter train to my last event location – Regional Teachers’ Continuing Training Center in the city of Kashira 100 km south of Moscow. I just realized that I could have missed this one on my last round of “confirmation” calls/e-mails. Hope they are still expecting me.

I have already been presenting at this place twice before in the last couple of years, each time attracting more and more History Teachers from wider and wider geographical area and spiritual strata: believers and non-believers, atheists and priests, non-Christians and agnostics. I can’t wait to see whom the Lord will bring to my classroom this morning.

November-December 2011 Trip. Cherkassy, Ukraine

December 15, 2011 By Dr. Oleg Voskresensky, Teacher

Cherkassy Polytechnical UniversityKnocking on the door is not enough. Walking through it when it opens is just as important.

This was my lesson yesterday night at Cherkassy National University when only three students showed up for my presentation. Apparently, the local Evangelical Church was too used to being denied access to the secular schools’ classrooms. When these doors opened wide and the University President “unexpectedly” gave the green light for them to bring in the FaithSearch Discovery presentation, nobody actually knew what to do with it. A couple of black-and-white half-page sized posters in poorly lighted hallways were definitely not enough to catch the students’ attention. After waiting for half an hour we decided to cancel the event. Please stop praying for the Lord to open the Russian or Ukrainian universities for the Gospel! He already does. Instead, start praying for the churches to be ready to walk into those doors!

What People Are Saying…

FaithSearch Discovery

As a professor of Philosophy, and as one who is reasonably familiar with your arguments, allow me to say that yours was the best presentation for the layman, of the evidence for faith that I have ever heard.  Praise the Lord!

What People Are Saying…

FaithSearch Discovery

I thought it was great.  It was very helpful to get all the scientific proof.  It re-affirms what I already knew, "that it takes more than faith to not believe than to believe.,"
