2023 November-December: Belarus, Russia, Tatarstan

December 17, 2023 By Dr. Oleg Voskresensky, Teacher

I didn’t have time for breakfast that day, but my lunch was plentiful: three salads, fish soup, halibut and sea-buckthorn kompot. All for $2.65.

Done. Three weeks of travel, teaching, preaching, meeting new audiences, and fellowship with old ministry friends and partners in five cities in two countries were very exciting but also very exhausting. Except for the last four days, I slept every other night on the train, and every night on a different bed. Most of my accommodations were very nice – even the monastery cell in Kazan was well heated and came with a USB charger for my phone (somebody left one there). It’s XVII-century, six-foot-thick, brick walls allowed only very limited Internet connection, but made me feel well protected from every kind of enemy forces.

A CHRISTMAS GIFT JUST FOR YOU

December 15, 2023 By Dr. Don Bierle

By Dr. Don Bierle, FaithSearch President

Why do we celebrate Christmas with gift giving? Because the truth about Christmas is about life, now and forever – “…and they shall call His name Immanuel” which translated means, “God with us” – a precious Life indeed!

Part of appreciating a gift is to look at the care taken to wrap it. In this issue of the Paraclete, I point out some of the meticulous care of God’s first century wrappings – evidence that authenticates the gift inside.

Christmas Choice: Innkeeper or Shepherd?

Christmas was so close to the innkeeper in Bethlehem. Mary and Joseph came to his city, they stood on his doorstep, possibly even in front of his desk. Yet we deduce his preoccupation with business kept him from recognizing the Christ of Christmas. The innkeeper had no time and no room for Jesus.

Wisdom from the Mouth of a Child

The week before Christmas was hectic. Dad and mom were frantic, and nerves reached the breaking point more than once. The little daughter seemed to be in the way wherever she went.

Are the Bible Records of Jesus True?

The basis for trusting the Gospel records about Jesus is twofold:

  1. Do the records have integrity? and
  2. Are they actual history?

What People Are Saying…

FaithSearch Discovery

Although I had been exposed to Christianity all my life, I struggled with so many issues that I couldn't undertstand—or wouldn't accept without understanding. These doubts circled around and around in my mind and made it easy for me to just forget the whole idea of God rather than try to accept what I did ... Read more >>

What People Are Saying…

FaithSearch Discovery

I appreciated the historical references to the validity of the Scripture.  I am a chemist and always appreciate hearing the testamony of other scientists.  I found the more deeply I got into my science studies, the more implausible the secular arguments of evolution and absence of God became.  Ultimately, I too had to surrender my ...
