And God created the great sea monsters, and every living creature that moves, with which the waters swarmed after their kind, and every winged bird after its kind, and God saw that it was good (Genesis 1:21).
Is the account in the Bible of God creating animal giants historical fact? When reading this, many people would say, “Of course–look at the elephant and the hippo.” Those were just starters for God! How do we know? The bones don’t lie and neither does the eye!
The mile markers along our interstate highways today are not a modern innovation. The idea goes back at least 2,000 years. There is substantial archaeological evidence of mile markers (miliarium) on ancient Roman roads, beginning with the Via Appia, which goes from Rome to southern Italy.

Many of the originally six-foot-high milestones are still visible along preserved sections of the 75,000-mile network of roads throughout the Roman empire. Ancient Romans determined the distance between markers as 1,000 paces (Latin: mille passuum) by a soldier, from which we derived the English “mile.” Since a double step (pace) was about 4.85 feet (4,850 feet between markers), it was a little short of our current definition of the measured mile (5,280 feet).

We continue getting positive responses from prisoners around the country who are reading Surprised by Faith. They are requesting additional Bible materials.
We are making progress in adding previously published newsletter articles–and new ones–to the Bible Learning Center. (See the second option under the “Resources” tab.) People are finding them helpful both in spiritual growth and for sharing with friends.

As a child, Klaus Krogh, reported that words would “bounce on the page” when he tried to read them. He suffered from dyslexia. The Copenhagen, Denmark, native later founded a typographic firm 2K/Denmark. For forty years he has been creating new typefaces, especially for the Bible, to help people with reading disabilities.
