We already know that parking in front of a TV or sitting at a desk for hours without exercise is a formula for bad health, especially for the heart. Recent research has now expanded that concern for another organ – our brain.
A scientific study of 1,800 adults aged sixty-five and older from 2008-2018 who all had normal cognitive function when they began, found that not exercising was “significantly associated with approximately 40-50% elevated cognitive impairment risk.” Exercise enhances blood flow and oxygen, stimulates neuron growth, and clears amyloid proteins associated with dementia.
Get off the couch!
