Weekend Wonder

July 27, 2011 By Rick Wattman

My family were invited to visit with a friend at their cabin “up north” last weekend. With recent (constant?) stresses, it was a blessing to “get away” for a while.

Anna was unable to join us as she had previous plans with friends that kept her home, plus she was scheduled to work on Monday and we planned to stay until then. I had to be back mid-day for an appointment, and we all wanted to be back for Anna’s concert with the Medalist Concert Band that evening.

Hello world!

July 26, 2011 By Rick Wattman

Let the blogging begin. It took me a while but I finally got WordPress to work on our Web server. Now that I’m staring at a blank page, it seems I have nothing to say. Hmmm, that has never happened before. Well, I’m sure I’ll get in the groove.

This blog will chronicle the ministry I have here as Director of Communications and Publications for FaithSearch International. Since you received information on how to find it, you already know something about me. I’m in the early stages of developing a personal support team, so this vehicle will be important for letting you know the latest details. Your interest in my ministry–and your prayers and support–are important to me. I’m strongly convicted that having a team behind me makes anything I attempt to do for God’s glory more powerful and effective.

Now that the blog is up and running, I’ll focus on tweaking its look and feel to reflect who I am and what I do here. The patterns and habits of communicating with this tool will no doubt grow and change over time.

Don’t let this be a one-way street, however. One of the benefits of this communication channel/medium is that you can comment and react in real time. I look forward to hearing from you as well.

For now, and until then, I remain your servant and instrument for advancing God’s Kingdom.

“My Styrofoam cup runneth over!”

May 18, 2011 By Dr. Oleg Voskresensky, Teacher

“My Styrofoam cup runneth over!”“My Styrofoam cup runneth over!” Praise God with me: People in an small church class to whom I was making a presentation passed a cup around until there was enough in the collection for a replacement for my broken laptop. What a blessing!

April 2011 Trip to Lithuania/Latvia/Russia. Pascha in St. Petersburg

April 24, 2011 By Dr. Oleg Voskresensky, Teacher

Christ is risen! He is risen indeed!

Candlelight procession at midnight.I have seen it for myself happening in the hearts of hundreds of Russians who filled the church for the overnight service in St. Petersburg. It began at 10 pm on Saturday night and ended at 3.30 am on Sunday morning with a candlelight procession around the church at midnight. Paschal Feast at 4 AMThen a group of close friends and families walked (no public transportation at this hour) to a place where the Great Lent was broken by a real feast that lasted until… I am not sure when it ended because I started to feel a little tired and left as soon as the subway system opened at around 6.30 am. These people really know how to celebrate!

Sharing about the real meaning of EasterSure enough, the celebration continued in a less formal way by inviting non-believers to the outdoor event in the park this same afternoon. Great time of sharing the real meaning of Easter with people who only think they are Orthodox Christians because they were born in Russia (sounds familiar?).

Please continue to pray for my last two days of ministry here. One more early morning radio presentation was just added to my already packed schedule for tomorrow. It’s going to be a long day.

April 2011 Trip to Lithuania/Latvia/Russia. Bryansk and Moscow

April 21, 2011 By Dr. Oleg Voskresensky, Teacher

My three days in Bryansk were both the time of sadness and the time of joy.

Sadness – as the family members were saying the last good-bye to my father-in-law and prayed that the Lord will have mercy on his soul.

Bryansk Teachers' CollegeJoy – seeing how the truth of Christ shines back to me in the eyes of History Teachers, Public School Principles, Highschoolers and their parents! By the way, I couldn’t help noticing how much more excited, focused and grateful were my audiences in Bryansk than those in Moscow. They were also much more inclined to take it very personally which even showed in their questions, like: “My fiancée is not a believer. Will it be OK if I share this material with him?” Frankly, I missed it yesterday while teaching the same class to the Theology majors at the Moscow Baptist Seminary. Hope my State Pedagogical University students tomorrow will bring some of that joy back to me.

Off to BryanskI will greatly appreciate your prayers for travel mercies as I am departing for St. Petersburg tomorrow night to celebrate Easter with our ministry friends and parters before the last two days of teaching events over there. What a privilege to present the historic evidence for the Resurrection event during this very special season!

What People Are Saying…

Surprised by Faith

Dr. Bierle, I have just finished reading your book and must confess that this book meant more for me than all the other books combined which I have read and studied in an effort to improve my faith and build a personal relationship with God. Being a scientist myself, I enjoyed the systematic approach and ... Read more >>
