Update…

February 22, 2013 By Rick Wattman

We’re deep in the midst of preparation for our annual “Friends of FaithSearch Benefit Dinner.” This year it will be held on Saturday, April 27, at Grace Church in Eden Prairie, MN. I hope you’ll consider joining us. You can get full details on our Gospel with Evidence blog. You can order tickets online; PLUS if you order by March 1, you get a $5 discount.

This year we will be amazed by the illusion of Adrian Van Vactor, an old friend of FaithSearch, and a world-renowned illusionist. (Read details about Adrian’s ministry as associate evangelist for FaithSearch.) The theme for the event is “Take the sword of the Spirit,” based on Ephesians 6:17.

While we’re getting ready for this, we’re also trying to get the French translation of Surprised by Faith updated to reflect the changes made for the third edition. Please join us in praying we will be able to get the updated text translated and into the layout as quickly as possible.

Pray, too, for the ministry’s finances, and for the development of my personal support team. That’s all for now. Thanks again for your interest, prayers, and support of my ministry.

January-February 2013 teaching trip to Russia. Petrozavodsk and Minnesota

February 21, 2013 By Dr. Oleg Voskresensky, Teacher

Thank you for the Surprised by Faith book, Oleg. I gave away my copy from your year 2007 visit to a friend and am so happy to have it again. By the way, that friend was a non-believer with lots of personal issues and spiritual [questions]. I met that young lady again six months later and could hardly recognize her in this very social person who was now literally shining from within. “My transformation started with the book that you had given me back then,” – my friend explained. “Not only it made me think more clearly about one’s convictions but it also set me for the task of sharing my faith with others.” –the testimony of a public school teacher in Petrozavodsk

My three days in Karelia were packed! I spoke two times on each day and my audience varied from public school teachers to clergy and from high-schoolers to church-goers… Each time I had to adjust the presentation according not only to the age, preparedness, and spiritual openness of the even participants; but also to the timing, lighting, and other external conditions of the site. Praise the Lord for digital technology that allows the same message be presented with integrity and clarity for such different audiences by adjusting it just a few touches of a keyboard!

I am back in Minnesota now and getting ready for my next trip back to Russia in mid-March. Yes, the rest-n’-recovery time will be very short now–I have to be back there in time for my PhD defense day.

Many thanks to all of you who prayed for my trip. I will be writing a full report shortly. Please let me know if you were not receiving it in the past but would like to ([email protected])

Are the New Testament accounts of demons true?

February 17, 2013 By Dr. Don Bierle

The New Testament, including Jesus Himself, clearly teaches the existence of a spiritual realm of demonic and angelic personal beings. The former are evil (sinning and rebelling from their created state as angels) and the latter are obedient servants of God.

Some people today dismiss such beings as a pre-scientific way of describing psychological dysfunctions such as hysteria or epilepsy. While it is true that at certain times in history some sects of Christianity have abused people with this doctrine of demons, it is primarily because of the actions and teachings of Jesus about nonphysical beings that we are capable of avoiding such abuse and having a more complete understanding of the universe. January-February 2013 teaching trip to Russia. Northern Caucuses and Moscow

February 13, 2013 By Dr. Oleg Voskresensky, Teacher

Today was the day of finals for my Open Education Institute class of public school teachers–a rare opportunity for me to test how well my material and training was actually understood by the audience. We spent four sessions on the FaithSearch Discovery during the last two weeks which allowed me to go into much detail and discussion over the most important points. Today, I was so nervous! It almost felt like I was there to be tested–not they. Will they fail me? Or will I pass… as their teacher? Praise God, most of them did actually very well and everybody passed the exam. Me included. What People Are Saying…

FaithSearch Origins

It was a really good presentation.  It was cool to see more proof I can use to tell my friends about creation.  It helped me learn a lot.

Surprised by Faith book

Don Bierle's book Surprised by Faith has proven itself to be a great tool at enlightening and reinforcing Christian beliefs.  To know what a person believes is a good first step in the journey of Christian faith.  To know why a person believes what he or she believes is the all-important next step which solidifies ...
