There are several species of wild goats of the genus Capra living in Israel and in the mountainous regions of Europe, Southwest Asia, and Northeast Africa (French “bouquetin”; Italian “stambecco”; and Alpine “steinbock”). The ibex is translated as “mountain goats” in the Bible, but it is not to be confused with the North American and Alaskan wild variety which is in a different genus Oreamnos.

It’s the Law!
Louisiana became the first state in more than forty years to require public schools and universities to display the Ten Commandments. Under the new statute, by January 1, 2025, a framed display at least eleven by fourteen inches in size with “large, easily readable font” must be on display in every public school building and classroom, from kindergarten to college.

Transitioning from a week of family vacation in Northern Italy to ministry in Russia went smoothly. I didn’t even have to change my attire as the first few days in Moscow met me with the same nice weather and big-city dress code.
As usual, most of my events in September are held in churches, social gatherings, and media outlets. Schools, universities, and seminaries are still finalizing their schedules and will start inviting me again later in the school year. I did, however, teach two classes yesterday at Kolomna Theological Seminary where my courses have already become a regular part of the curriculum in Missions and Apologetics. An online class at Belgorod Seminary on the Arguments of the Existence of God in the afternoon made my day very full.

The apostle Paul desired to take the Gospel to Ephesus early in his missionary tours, but was forbidden by the Holy Spirit (Acts 16:6). At the end of the second tour, He still wanted to do so and expressed, “I will return to you again if God wills” (Acts 18:21).
Evidently God did will it for he went straight to Ephesus in his third tour and after three years of teaching there, we read in Acts that “all who lived in Asia heard the word of the Lord, both Jews and Greeks” (19:10). Paul’s teaching assuredly resulted in the seven churches of Asia to be started (Revelation 2-3).
