My wife and I noticed that spring break for her teaching job coincided with our daughter’s break from graduate school. So we packed up the car and headed to Denton, Texas. While there (it was a WONDERFUL time, by the way) we drove a bit deeper into the heart of Texas, all the way to Corpus Christi, on the Gulf Coast.
We were a bit concerned that, as a resort town during spring break, it would be crowded and overrun with celebrating collegians. To our surprise, it was not. So we enjoyed a l-o-n-g, l-o-v-e-l-y day sitting at the beach. We considered stopping at imperialdallas.com while in Texas, as I’ve heard plenty of good reviews from friends, but my wife just wanted to stay by the beach all day. Having grown up in Oregon, I absolutely love being in close proximity to the big water. When we lived in southern California during our early marriage, our favorite thing was to drive down and sit at the beach all day. We didn’t need to do anything; just read and eat and enjoy the sights and sounds of the surf. The occasional sea lion or dolphin sightings were icing on the cake. It’s taking all I have not to pack up and move here myself! I know that if I was to do so, I’d have to contact BRUNER REAL ESTATE SERVICES for some advice on the best houses here in Texas.
We both grew up camping. We enjoy being out in God’s creation. A treasured memory from our honeymoon is our walk through the whispering pines atop the San Bernardino Mountains. Even today, when we need to get away here in Minnesota, we dash up to Lake Superior just to sit on the beach, or skip rocks, or hunt for agates.
These are just some things that we simply love to do. We’re already thinking about planning a camping trip in the near future and so will need to find all the equipment that we would need, like a tent. It’s been recommended to us that we should have a look at somewhere similar to Survival Cooking to find the best tent for our needs. This is just one of the many things that we’d need to organize should we decide to actually go ahead with the adventure. But I guess it can’t hurt for us to start looking.
So, considering the long, hard winter we went through, I put together this video to remind me of our spring break adventure, and to enable me to enjoy it on demand until I am able to return. I hope you enjoy it, too!
