Part One: “My STORY”

In the June issue of the Paraclete, I introduced the inspired instruction of the apostle Peter to first-century Christians who were facing a secular Roman culture:

Simply reverence the Lord Christ in your hearts, and always have your answer ready for people who ask you the reason for the hope that you all have. But give it with courtesy and respect and with a clear conscience…

Christians in America today are confronted with a similar situation. To be effective witnesses for the Good News of Jesus we will also need to make a “3:15 Response.” There are four components of this response. In this issue, I will detail the first one.

FaithSearch International is in its forty-first year of evangelism ministry. Throughout that entire time our mission has not changed:  “To extend the Gospel with evidence to all peoples everywhere.” The “Gospel with evidence” means that we answer “why” questions as well as “what” questions about the Christian faith. 

Today, with the rise of secular humanism and socialism, the abandoning of the Church, and an anti-God worldview, our mission to defend the truthfulness of the Bible and Christian faith is more relevant than at any previous time of our ministry.

In previous issues of the Paraclete, I wrote about the fingerprints of God as revealed in nature and in history (Volume 1, Issue 6, and Volume 2, Issue 1).

Those arguments are considered “hard” or objective evidence for the existence of God. Here I appeal to “soft” evidence: the phenomenon of transformed lives. Some people view it this way: 

What is the greatest argument for the existence of God? Answer: Christians!

What is the greatest argument against the existence of God?
Answer: Christians!

The prophet Isaiah, speaking prophetically by the Holy Spirit, declared, “The people who walk in darkness will see a great light… For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us… And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace” (Isaiah 9:1, 6).

The prophet Micah added that the origin of this “light” is “from the days of eternity” (Micah 5:2).

In a previous issue of the Paraclete, I briefly presented the evidence for God from the fingerprints of Intelligent Design in the natural world (see Volume 1, Issue 6, November 2018). Here in Part Two, I want to address the evidence for God in history.
